FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What age group is recommended for oral hygiene advice?
Oral hygiene advice is recommended for all ages, from children to older adults. From early childhood, it is important to develop good oral care habits to prevent tooth decay and other oral problems. For young people and adults, counselling helps to maintain oral health, learn good oral care techniques and detect potential problems early. For older people, counselling can be particularly important given the particular oral challenges associated with age, such as dry mouth, caring for existing dentures and managing the side effects of medications. Overall, oral health advice is key to maintaining and improving oral health at all stages of life.
How long should you brush your teeth?
For at least 3 minutes thoroughly clean the teeth and gums from all sides.
What type of toothbrush is recommended?
We recommend a soft-bristled toothbrush, which is gentle on the gums while effectively removing plaque.
How many times a day should I floss?
At least once a day, but ideally after every meal, to remove food particles and plaque from the areas between teeth.
How does an interndental toothbrush help?
The interdental toothbrush is specifically designed to effectively remove plaque and food debris from the tighter areas between teeth where a traditional toothbrush cannot reach. This tool is particularly useful for people who have a large space between their teeth or wear braces, bridges or crowns, as these situations make it difficult to use traditional floss. Regular use helps prevent gingivitis, and tartar build-up and reduces the risk of tooth decay in hard-to-reach areas.
