What is an implant?
A dental implant is a device made of titanium that is inserted into the jawbone where a tooth is missing. Like an artificial tooth root, it provides a stable foundation for replacement teeth such as crowns, bridgework or full dentures. This modern dental solution allows for functionality and aesthetics similar to natural teeth, helping patients regain a healthy smile.
What type of implant is used in the practice?
The type of implant used in Trendo Dental is the Astra Prime Taper, one of Dentsply Sirona’s high-quality implants.
In which cases is an implant necessary?
Implants are usually needed when one or more teeth are missing. Other indications may include:
- To provide a stable foundation for tooth replacements.
- Improve chewing function and speech quality.
- Preserving the integrity of the facial structure.
- To prevent overloading of existing teeth caused by traditional bridge replacements.
What happens during implantation?
Implantation is a multi-step process, starting with the preparation and ending with the insertion of the final restorations. First, the dentist will carry out the necessary examinations and prepare a detailed treatment plan. The implants are placed under local anaesthesia, where the dentist uses a small surgical procedure to place the implant in the jawbone. This is followed by a healing period during which the implant is integrated with the jawbone.
What will happen at the dentist first?
During the first visit, the dentist will carry out a thorough examination, including an examination of the oral cavity and X-rays and CT scans. We will then discuss your needs and expectations and prepare an individual treatment plan detailing the implant procedure, the expected results and the cost of the treatment.
What will be the next steps?
After the initial consultation and implant placement, a healing period is required during which the implant solidifies in the jawbone. This usually takes 3-6 months. You can then return to the dentist’s office, where the dentist will attach the final prosthesis to the implant. Throughout the process, we pay special attention to your comfort and maximise the aesthetic results to give back your confidence and the joy of a natural smile.
How much does an implant cost?
Before implantation, a personal consultation with the oral surgeon performing the procedure is always necessary to discuss the possibility of implantation. The fee for this consultation is 24 000 HUF. This includes a complex preliminary assessment, including a dental examination, scan and X-ray (30 000 HUF). A CT scan is always required for implant placement, which costs between 8 000-28 000 HUF.
The price of an implantation is 450 000 HUF (for one tooth), which includes the prosthetic replacement (made by our dental laboratory). If the implantation requires bone replacement beforehand, the price of this is always in addition to the 450 000 HUF. The cost of bone replacement is always discussed on an individual basis, as we cannot say in advance how much bone replacement material will be required or what the bone replacement itself will be made of (synthetic or of animal origin).

Frequently Asked Questions
How safe are dental implants?
Dental implants are a safe and reliable method of replacing missing teeth. The titanium from which the implants are made is biocompatible, so it is well accepted by the body and the risk of rejection is minimal.
How long does an implant take?
The process of inserting the implant consists of several steps, which can take several months. The surgical procedure to place the implant in the jawbone is usually done in a single visit, but the whole healing and fusion process can take longer.
Is it painful to get an implant?
The implant is inserted under local anaesthetic, so the operation itself is not painful. In the days after the operation, you may feel some slight pain or discomfort, which can be treated with painkillers.
Are implants suitable for everyone?
Implants are suitable for most people, but there are certain medical conditions that can affect the success of implantation, such as heavy smoking, certain chronic diseases, or if there is insufficient bone in the jawbone.
How long do dental implants last?
Dental implants are extremely durable and, with proper care, can last a lifetime. However, regular oral hygiene and dental check-ups are important to maintain their condition.
How to look after an implant?
The care of implants is similar to that of natural teeth: brushing three times a day, flossing and regular dental check-ups. Particular attention should be paid to keeping the area around the implant clean.
Can implants damage adjacent teeth?
No, properly placed implants do not damage adjacent teeth. In fact, implants can help keep the jawbone healthy and prevent adjacent teeth from shifting.
How long does it take for the implant to heal?
The healing period varies, usually between 3-6 months, until the implant is fully integrated with the jawbone. The final crown or bridges can then be fixed to the implant. The length of the individual healing process depends on the patient’s health and the site of the implant.
How can my lifestyle affect the success of the implant?
Lifestyle can significantly affect the success and durability of dental implants. For example, smoking and alcohol consumption negatively affect the healing process and reduce the longevity of implants. A healthy diet, regular oral hygiene and physical activity can promote faster healing and maintain the stability of implants in the longer term. It is important to follow your doctor’s advice and attend regular check-ups to maintain the health of your implants.
Can I have an allergic reaction to dental implant material?
Although rare, it is possible to have an allergic reaction to materials used in dental implants, such as titanium. However, modern implant manufacturing uses biocompatible materials that minimise the risk of allergic reactions. If you have a known allergy or are concerned about the possibility of an allergic reaction, please inform your doctor who may recommend alternative treatment options.
