Home teeth whitening

What is home teeth whitening?

Home whitening involves placing a custom-made or factory-made plastic splint to hold the bleaching material on the dental arch to be treated, and wearing it for a set daily period.

What should I look out for during home whitening?

  • In case of tooth decay, very sensitive cervicals, tooth replacements, home whitening is prohibited.
  • Professional teeth cleaning is required before home whitening.
  • Only teeth in the smile zone are whitened.

What is the procedure for home whitening?

  • An impression is taken of the dental arch (upper, lower or both) to be whitened.
  • A dental hygienist or dental assistant will pour out the impression, from which a plaster cast will be made and, after proper preparation, a splint will be prepared.
  • The completed splint is moulded and then tried into your mouth.
  • If all is well and the custom splint is comfortable, we will hand it over to you, along with two syringes of bleaching material.
  • You will be given detailed information about the whitening process, its duration, any cervical sensitivity and the white diet to be followed to achieve long-lasting results.

What to know about home use?

  • A home whitening splint should be used every other day for 2-2.5 hours.
  • Importantly, the treatment itself is not the end of the whitening process. If you want lasting results, you need to watch your diet. You should avoid certain foods for 10-14 days.
  • You may experience tooth sensitivity after the treatment, but this should not be alarming. You just need to pay more attention to your teeth.
  • Whitening removes water from the teeth, which makes them sensitive. This water content will be restored to the teeth within 14 days of treatment. Because of tooth sensitivity, you should not eat foods that are too hot or too cold.
  • Avoid foods that contain food coloring or have a coloring effect. A so-called white diet should be followed after treatment. This means eating foods that are white or light in color.

How much does home teeth whitening cost?

The cost of home whitening is 55 000 HUF, which includes two tubes of whitening paste. It is possible to purchase additional paste at 12 000 Ft/tube.
