Aesthetic dentistry

What kind of dental interventions do we mean by aesthetic dentistry?

Aesthetic dentistry is an increasingly popular field that focuses on improving the beauty and health of the smile, while not neglecting the functionality of the teeth. Modern aesthetic dentistry offers a range of procedures designed to optimise the appearance of teeth, including improving their colour, shape, size and location. One of the most sought-after aesthetic procedures is the creation of veneers.

When do I need veneers?

The use of veneers can be an ideal choice if you want to improve the appearance of your teeth without having to remove significant tooth material. If you are unhappy with the colour, shape or size of your teeth, or if you want to cover gaps between teeth, direct or indirect veneers can help you achieve the desired result.

Indirect veneers

Indirect veneers are made in a dental laboratory from a precise impression taken by your dentist. They are usually made of porcelain or ceramic, which gives them a translucency and shine similarly to natural teeth. When using indirect veneers, the dentist may grind the tooth surface minimally to make room for the veneer. The finished shell is then fixed to the tooth with a strong adhesive. Indirect veneers are particularly suitable for treating major aesthetic challenges, such as severe discolouration, large gaps or significant tooth reshaping.

Direct veneers

Direct veneers are made in the dentist’s office in a single visit. The dentist applies a special composite resin directly to the tooth surface, which is then shaped and polished to achieve the desired aesthetic result. This procedure can be an ideal choice for minor aesthetic problems such as mild discolouration, small cracks or refining the shape of teeth. It has the advantage of being quick and usually does not require tooth material to be removed.

What will happen in the dentist’s office first?

During your first visit, your dentist will assess your teeth and oral health and discuss the goals of your aesthetic dental treatment. An individual treatment plan will be developed, and your dentist will prepare a complex quotation.

What happens next?

After the initial consultation, your dentist will discuss the proposed treatment plan with you in detail, including the type of procedures, expected duration and costs. Aesthetic dental treatments can be carried out in several stages, depending on the type of interventions required to achieve the desired result.

How much do indirect and direct veneers cost?

Indirect veneers are available in our practice for 90 000 HUF and direct veneers for 75 000 HUF.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the difference between direct and indirect veneers?

Direct veneers are shaped and placed directly in the patient’s mouth in a single visit, while indirect veneers are prepared in a dental laboratory and then later fixed to the tooth.

In which cases is a direct veneer recommended?

Direct veneers are ideal for minor aesthetic corrections, such as slight discolouration, and filling small cracks or gaps between teeth.

When do I need indirect veneers?

Indirect veneers are usually used when major structural or aesthetic changes are required, including the correction of major discolouration, fractures or significant changes to the shape of the teeth.

How durable are direct veneers?

The durability of direct veneers varies, usually they can remain beautiful for 5-8 years, but this depends on the patient’s oral hygiene habits and the quality of the material.

How long do indirect veneers last?

Indirect veneers, like porcelain veneers, can last 10-15 years or more with proper care because they are made of stronger materials.

What materials are used for direct and indirect veneers?

Direct veneers are usually made of composite resin, while indirect veneers are made of porcelain or ceramic for greater durability and aesthetic quality.

How visible are the veneers on the teeth?

Both direct and indirect veneers can be matched to the colour and shape of natural teeth, making them almost undetectable and giving a very natural look.

How quickly are direct and indirect veneers made?

Direct veneers are usually completed in a single visit. For indirect veneers, several visits may be required: the first to take the impression and prepare the tooth, and the second to fix the finished veneer.

How do the veneers affect the sensitivity of the teeth?

After the application of the veneers, some patients may experience temporary sensitivity, especially if the teeth need to be ground during the preparation of the indirect veneers. However, this sensitivity is usually short-lived, and the prepared veneer protects the teeth.

Is special care needed after the veneers?

Although the veneers are strong and durable, it is important to maintain good oral hygiene, including regular brushing and flossing. Avoid chewing very hard foods to avoid damaging the veneers. Regular dental check-ups are also key to maintaining long-term results.
